Skateboarding taught me to read a curb, a railing, a wall that was never built for that purpose, and use it anyway. Nobody hands you a blank slate. You work with what’s actually there, and make it yours.
I’ve been building digital products and design teams that way since 2005, across agencies, my own studio, and enterprise consulting. The rule stayed the same the whole time: if it doesn’t move the business and respect the human using it, it’s not done yet.
Today I lead strategic design and DesignOps at adesso SE, inside an organization with decades of structure already in place. That’s exactly the kind of terrain I like working with. I built a design operations model to give teams room to move inside that structure instead of waiting for someone to hand them a clean slate. ND80 stays alive alongside that, because I’ve always loved the mix more than the routine.
What matters most to me now is long-term impact: products, teams, and design cultures built to last beyond the first launch.
